Safety Precautions
This chapter describes safety precautions when using the printer. Please read and understand the
precautions in this chapter before using the printer.
l Safety signs
The various safety signs included in t his manual and pasted on the printer are intended to
inform you of the correct and safe handling of this printer and protect against personal injury
and property damage. Please familiarize yourselves with t he f o llow ing safety signs and their
meanings.
Indicates a situation which, if not observed and handled
properly, could result in death or serious injur y.

Examples
Symbol : Attention! The actual warning is portr ayed in t he drawi ng (for example, the sign on
the left calls attention to electrical shock).
Symbol : Operation prohibited. The prohibited operatio n is portrayed in the drawing (for
example, the sign on the left indicates that disassembling is prohibited).
Symbol l: Operation required. The required operatio n is portrayed in the drawing (for example,
the sign on the left indicates that the plug must be removed from the outlet).
