CUTTING A SLOT IN THE ZEROCLEARANCE THROAT PLATE
Inorder to useyour compound miter saw, you must
cuta slotthrough the zeroclearance throat plate to
allowfor blade clearance. To cut the slot, set your
saw at 0 degreesmiter, turn sew on and allowthe
bladeto roach full speed, then carefullymake a
straightcutas far as itwill go through the throatplate.
Turnyour saw off and allowthe bladeto come to a
complete stopbefore raisingthe saw arm.
Next,adjust the bevel angle to 45 degrees, turn your
sew onand allowthe blade to reach full speed, then
carefully makeanother cut through the zero clearance
throatplate. The throat plate will than be wide enough
toallow the blade to passthrough it at any angle from
0to 45 degrees.
SQUARING THE MITER TABLE
TO THE FENCE

•Unplugyour saw.
_k WARNING: Failureto unplugyour saw could
resultin accidentalstarting causingpossible
seriouspersonal injury.
•Pushdown on the sew arm and pullout the lock
pin to release the sew arm.
•Raisesaw arm to its fullraised position.
• Loosen themiter lockhandle approximatelyone-
halfturn.
•Depressthe miter lockplate and rotate the miter
table until the pointer onthe controlarm isposi-
tionedat 0°.
Release the miterlock plate and securelytighten
the miterlock handle.
Laya framing square flat on the mitertable. Place
one leg of the square against thefence. Place the
otherleg of the squarebeside the zero clearance
throat plate in the mitertable. The edge of the
squareand the zero clearancethroat plate in
the mitertable shouldbe parallel as shownin
figure 13.
If the edge ofthe framing square and the zero
clearancethroat plate in the miter table are not
parallelas shown infigures 14 and 15, adjust-
mentsare needed.
