Tightenthe hex nut with a 17 mm wrench or
adjustablewrench.
To preventthe depth stopadjustment screwfrom
tumingwhile tighteningthe hex nut, carefully held
itwiththe hex key while tighteningthe hex nut.

Crosscuttingwood and plastic.
Crosscuttingmiters, joints,etc. for pictureframes,
moldings, doorcasings, and fine joinery.
Note: The blade providedisfine for most wood
cuttingoperations,butfor fine joinery cutsor cutting

fromyour nearestSears store.
&WARNING: Beforestartingany cutting
operation,clamp,bolt or nail your compound
mitersaw to a workbench. Never operateyour
mitersaw on the floor or ina crouchedposition.

MITER SAW
&WARNING: When usinga work clamp or
C-clampto secure your workpiece, clamp
workpieceon one side of the blade only. The
workpiecemustremain free on one side of the
bladeto prevent the blade from bindingin
workpiece.The workpiecebindingthe blade will
causemotor stalling and kickback.Thissituation
couldcause an accident resultingin possible
seriouspersonal injury.
CROSSCUTTING
See Figure26.
A crosscutismade by cuttingacross the grain ofthe
workpiece.A straightcrosscutis made withthe miter
table setat the zero degree position. Miter crosscuts
aremade with the miter table set st some angle other
than zero.
TO CROSSCUT WITH YOUR MITER
SAW:
Pulloutthe lock pin and lift saw armto its full
height.
Loosenthe miterlock handle. Rotate the miter
lockhandle approximately one-haftturn tothe left
toloosen.
Pressthe miter lock plate downwith your thumb
and held.
Rotatethe control arm untilthe pointer alignswith
the desiredangle on the miter scale.
Releasethe miter lockplate.
Note: You canquickly locate0°, 15°, 22-1/2°,
31.62°, and 45° left or right byreleasing the lock
plateas you rotate the controlarm. The lock plate
willseat itselfin one of the positive stopnotches,
locatedin the mitertable frame,
Tightenthe miter lock handle securely.
,_ WARNING: To avoidseriouspersonal injury,
alwaystightenthe miter lock handle securely
beforemaking a cut. Failure to do so could result
inmovement of the controlarm or miter table
whilemaking a cut.
