CUTTING CROWN MOLDING

Yourcompoundmiter saw does an excellent jobof
cuttingcrown molding. In general, compound miter
saws doa betterjob of cuffingcrownmoldingthan
any othertool made.
Inorder to fit properly, crown moldingmust be com-
poundm/tared with extreme accuracy.
The twocontact surfaces on a piece of crownmolding
that fit fiatagainst the ceiling and the wall of a room
are at angles that, when added together, equal
exactly90°. Mcet crownmolding has atop rear angle
(thesectionthat fits fiat against theceiling) of 52° and
a bottom rear angle (the section that fits fiatagainst
thewall) of 38 °.

When settingthe beval and miter anglesforcom-

pendent;changingone angle changesthe otherangle
aswell.
Keepin mind that the anglesfor crownmoldingsare
veryprecise and difficulttoset. Since it is very easy
forthese angles to shift, all settingsshouldfirst be
testedon scrap molding. Also most walls do nothave
anglesof exactly 90", therefore, you will needto fine
tuneyour settings.
