GUARD AGAINST KICKBACK. Kickbackoccurs
when the blade stalls rapidly and workplaceis
drivenback towards the operator, it can pull your
handinto the blade resultinginserious personal
injury.Stay out of blade path and turn switchoff
immediatelyif blade bindsor stalls.
AVOID CUl'nNG NAILS. Inspectfor and
removeall nails fromlumber before cutting.
ALWAYS USE A CLAMP to securethe work-
piecewhen possible.
NEVER TOUCH BLADE orothermoving parts
dudng use.
NEVER START ATOOL WHEN THE BLADE IS
IN CONTACT WITH WORKPIECE. Allowmotor
to comeup to full speed beforestartingcut.
MAKE SURE THE MITER TABLE AND SAW
ARM (BEVEL FUNCTION) ARE LOCKED IN
POSITION BEFORE OPERATING YOUR SAW.
Lockthe miter table bysecurelytighteningthe
miterlock handle. Lock the saw arm (bevel
function)by securelytighteningthe bevel lock
knob.
NEVER USE A LENGTH STOPON THE FREE
SCRAP END OF ACLAMPED WORKPIECE.
NEVER hold onto or bind thefree scrapend of
theworkpiece in anyoperation.If awork clamp
andlength stop are used together, they must
bothbe installed on the same side of the sew
table to preventthe sew from catchingthe loose
andand kicking up.
NEVER cut morethan one piece at aurae. DO
NOT STACK morethan one workplece on the
sew table at a time.
NEVER PERFORM ANY OPERATION "FREE-
HAND". Always place the workpiecato be cut on
themiter table and positionit firmlyagainstthe
fenceas a backstop. Always usethe fence.
NEVER hand hold a workpiscathat is too small
to be clamped. Keep hands clear ofthe no hands
zone.
NEVER reach behind, under,or withinthree
inchesof the bladeand itscuttingpath with your
handsand fingers for any reason.
NEVER reach topickup a workpieca, a piece of
scrap, orany_ing else that is inor near the
cuttingpathof the blade.
AVOID AWKWARD OPERATIONS AND HAND
POSITIONS where asudden slip couldcause
yourhand to move into the blade. ALWAYS
make sure you havegood balance. NEVER
operateyour mitersew on the floor or in a
crouchedposition.
NEVER stand or have any part of your bodyin
linewiththe path of the sew blade.
ALWAYS release the power switch and allowthe
sew blade tostop rotating before raisingit outof
theworkpiece.
DO NOT TURN THE MOTOR SWITCH ON AND
OFF RAPIDLY. Thiscouldcause the sew blade
to loosenand could creata ahazard. Should thla
everoccur, stand clear and allow the sew blade
to come to a completestop. Disconnectyoursew
fromthe power supplyand securelyretlghtenthe
bladebolt.
REPLACEMENT PARTS. All repairs, whether
electricalor mechanical,shouldbe made by
qualifiedservice technicianat a Sears store.

NEVER USEIN AN EXPLOSIVE ATMO-

POLARIZED PLUGS. To reduce the dsk of
electdcshock_thistoolhas apolarizedplug (one
bladeis wider thanthe other). This plug will fitin
a poladzed outletonly one way. If the plugdoes
notfit fully in the outlet, reversethe plug. If it still
doesnot fit, contacta qualified aiectdcian to
installthe properoutlat.Do not change the plug
inany way.
IF ANY PARTOF THIS MITER SAW IS MISS-
ING or shouldbreak, bend, orfail in any way, or
shouldany electricalcomponent failto perform
properly,shutoff the power switch,remove the
mitersaw plugfrom the power sourceand have
damaged, missing,or failed parts replaced
before resumingoperation.
DO NOT OPERATE THIS TOOL WHILE UN-
DER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS, ALCOHOL,
