The preboot execution environment (PXE) allows a personal computer to be managed by one or more configuration management servers running the LANDesk Configura- tion Manager (LCM) software, which provides management services for the many Managed PC systems on the network. The LCM allows network administrators to do the following:

‡Provide preboot support for a new Managed PC system that depends on the server for its initial operating system installation

‡Service the network boot requests from the Managed PC systems
