8.3.3 Searching on a transponder

You can search a specific transponder (see Point 10: Technical Terms) for available programmes. To do this, you will have to enter the appropriate transponder data (Fig. 8- 12).

Satellite

In this line you must select the satellite on which the desired transponder is located.

>Use the arrow keys up/down to select the line

Satellite.

(Fig. 8-12)

>Press OK to display a table listing the active satelli- tes.

>Now use the arrow keys up/down to mark the appropriate satellite.

>Confirm by pressing OK.

The satellite selected will now be displayed in the line Satellite.

Transponder frequency

>Use the arrow keys up/down to select the line

Transponder frequency.

>Enter the appropriate frequency by means of the numeric keys.

Symbol rate

The symbol rate indicates the volume of data transmitted per second. A typical figure might be 27500 (27500 symbols per second).

>Use the arrow keys up/down to mark the line

Symbol rate.

>Use the numeric keys to enter the desired symbol rate.

Polarisation

>Use the arrow keys up/down to mark the line

Polarisation.

>Use the OK key in this line to enter the polarisation plane (horizontal or vertical) on which the desired programme is broadcast.

Search mode

>Use the arrow keys up/down to mark the line

Search mode.

>Press the OK key to decide whether you wish to search only for free-to-air programmes ( Free Programmes) or whether you wish to include encrypted programmes in the search (All Programmes).

>Press the red function key to confirm Start Search.

The search will commence. Please note any messa- ges displayed on screen.
