MANUAL LOAD TRANSFER

Thisprocedure will manually transfer theload if the
controller is disconnected.

Do not manually operate the transfer switching

device until both power sources are

disconnected: openboth circuit breakers .

1. Open normal and emergency source ci rcuit
breakers.
2. Usethe maintenance handle to manually operate
transfer switching device to the opposite source.
See page 1–4, ManualOperation Test.
3. Ifthe transfer swit chingdevi cei si n the
Emergencyposi tion manually start the engine
generator and then close the emergency source
circuit breaker.

TROUBLE-SHOOTING

Notethe control features that are activated or
furnishedon the switch and review their operation.
Refer to Section5,Control Features.Proceed withcare! The automatic transfer

switching equipment is energized.

Trouble-Shooting the Motor Load Transfer Feature (refer to page 5–3)

Use extreme caution when using a meter to

measure voltages in the following steps. D o not

touch power terminals;shock, burns, or death

could result !

1. Connect a voltmeter (set for twice system
phase–to–phasevoltage) between transfer
switchingdevice terminals U1 and U2 (for 3 pole)
or L1 and L2 (for 2 pole).
2. Manually start generator. Voltmeterneedle should
sweepback and forth at a regular rate between 0
and abouttwice system voltage.
3. Press and hold the Tr a n s fe r Tes t button. The load
shouldtransfer to emergency source when meter
needle is near 0 volts. If transfer does not occur,
Motor Load Transferfeature is not operating.
4. Release the Tr a n s f e r Test button. The load should
retransferback to the normal source after the
Retransferto Normal Delay,ifused.Theretransfer
should occurwhen the nee dle is near 0 volts. If
retransferdoes not occur after the time delay, the
Motor Load Transferfeature is not operating.
5. For immediate retransfe r, press the Bypass Time
Delay button. Then disconnect the voltmeter.
If the problemis isolated to circuits on the controller or the transfer switchingdevice, call your local ASCO
Power Technologiessale so ffice. Furnish Serial No., Bill of Materia l(B OM) No., & Catalog No. from the
transferswitching device nameplate.
