Gateway field

The Gateway field identifies the address of the gateway to the mail server to be used if the switcher and the mail server are not on the same subnet.

Valid IP addresses consist of four 1-, 2-, or 3-digit octets separated by dots (periods). Each octet can be numbered from 000 through 255. Leading zeroes, up to 3 digits total per octet, are optional. Values of 256 and above are invalid.

Subnet Mask field

The Subnet Mask field is used to determine whether the switcher is on the same subnet as the controlling PC or the mail server when you are subnetting. For more information, see ”Subnetting — A Primer”, in Appendix A, “Ethernet Connection”.

Mail Server IP Address field

The Mail Server IP Address field displays the IP address of the mail server that handles the e-mail for the facility in which the switcher is installed.

Valid IP addresses consist of four 1-, 2-, or 3-digit numeric octets separated by dots (periods). Each field can be numbered from 000 through 255. Leading zeroes, up to 3 digits total per field, are optional. Values of 256 and above are invalid.
