MountingAssembly

Once you have determined that the inventory is complete, mount the machine to a workbench through the holes in the base. We recommend that you cut a hole in your bench top to allow access to the under side of the base on the machine. This will be necessary for adjusting the Y-plane leadscrew. Refer to Leadscrew Backlash on

Page 33.

The strongest mounting option is a "Through Mount" where holes are drilled all the way through the workbench, and hex bolts, washers, and hex nuts are used to secure the drill press to the workbench (Figure 7).

Another option for mounting is a "Direct Mount" where the machine is simply secured to the work- bench with a lag screw (Figure 8).

Handwheels

There are three handwheels provided with the machine that control table movement.

To mount the handwheels to the machine:

1.Turn the lock nut on the handwheel handles until it is almost against the plastic handle.

2.Screw the handle into the handwheel and tighten the lock nut against the wheel. This nut acts as a locknut and a spacer (Figure 9).
