Matrox MGA Millennium Video Controller Card

MGA Video BIOS

A feature of the Matrox MGA Millennium card is the capability to flash program the video BIOS. This is achieved as follows:

1Set SW-1, on the Matrox card, to ON (BIOS unprotected).

2Set the “Operating System” field in the Setup program to Others.

3Run the updbios.bat command file (provided by HP), to execute the video BIOS flash program, progbios.exe, and the associated *.bin file.

4Set SW-1, on the Matrox card, to OFF (BIOS protected).

5Set the “Operating System” field in the Setup program back to an appro- priate setting.

Video cards without ROM (such as old CGA and monochrome) are not supported by the BIOS. Memory holes above 1 MB are not supported. DDC display detection is not a BIOS feature, but is handled by the video drivers.
