To load a CD into a vertically mounted CD-RW drive, do the following:.

Note: Drive CD tray design might be different than shown (varies by supplier).

1. Press the Eject/Load button

2.Insert the CD into the tray, make sure the disc is placed securely behind the vertical mounting tabs.

3.Close the loading tray by pressing the Eject/Load button, or by gently pushing the tray in.

Ejecting a CD manually

If you press the Eject/Load button and the tray does not slide out, turn off the computer. Straighten a large paper clip to form a tool, as shown in the illustration. The straightened end must extend at least 45 mm (1.8 in.). Insert the extended end into the manual-eject hole on the front of the drive (see “Front view of the drive” on page 3). Push the paper clip into the hole until the tray opens. Gently pull out the tray until you can remove the CD.

Using Windows XP native recording with your CD-RW drive

Your CD-RW drive is fully compatible with the recording functions built into Windows XP. You can record data CDs without adding any additional software if you are running Windows XP. If you install the DLA software that comes with your CD-RW drive, Windows Native recording will be disabled and DLA will perform the formatting and writing functions. The CDs that you create with Windows native recording can be used in most versions of Windows without any special readers.
