2-2 Pre-Installation The Fire Alarm Back-up UPS1 481 is designed for indoor install at io ns. All customer connections
are brought through knockout s loc at ed on the top or side of the Fire Al ar m Back-up UPS1481.
The Fire Alarm Back-up UPS1 481 consists of one (1) integrated c a binet — housing both the
electronics and batteries (d ep ending on KVA). Before unpackin g the equipment, inspect the
exterior the shipping contain er and the equipment itself for da mage that may have occurred
during transit. If the shipping c ont ainer or equipment itself sho ws evidence of damage, note the
damage on the receiving doc u ment before signing for recei pt of t he e quipment. Damage claims
should be filed directly with the c a rrier.
2-2-1 Equipment Unpacking
Remove the equipment fro m th e shipping carton. Since the 6 8” c a binet for 15KVA is designed
for pad — mount installations , t here are no casters. It is suggested that a f ork lif t be used to
remove the Fire Alarm Back- up UPS1481 from its shipping pa llet .
Before placing the Fire Alarm Bac k - up UPS1481 onto the mounting bolts or leveller (where it will
be installed), the conduit knock outs needs to be removed.
1. Th e c o nduit knockouts are located o n t he b ack-side of the cabinet for 3- 15 K VA
2. Remove the conduit k nockouts.
3. Measure the locations for the cond uit s on t h e conduit knockouts.
4. Drill or punch holes in the conduit knock outs for the conduits.
Anchor the Fire Alarm Back-u p UPS1481 to the mounting pa d at t he f ou r (4) mounting
locations, by lowering levell ers f or 3 -15 KVA units.

2. This concludes the mechanic a l installation.

Extreme care must be take n when working within the Fire Alar m Back-up UPS1481
enclosure.
