11.7Adjusting Wheelbase Width

Perform this procedure on one side of the wheelchair at a time for ease of adjustment.

The wheelbase width can be increase/decreased by 3/4 per side = 11/2 inch total range of adjustment.

1.Remove the rear wheels. Refer to Removing/Installing Rear Wheels on page 66.

2.Loosen the axle nut and rotate axle busing to increase/decrease the wheelbase width.

3.Securely tighten axle nut. Torque nut to 30-35 ft.-lbs.

4.Count the number of threads showing on the axle bushing or

measure the amount of axle bushing showing beyond the axle nut. Camber Tube

		ALWAYS leave 3/4 inch of axle bushing engaged
		into camber tube otherwise damage and/or injury
		may occur.
		The amount of axle bushing showing beyond the
		nut should be equal on both sides of the
		wheelchair. Otherwise, wheelchair performance	Axle Bushing
		may be affected.

5.	Repeat STEPS 2-4 for the opposite axle bushing.
6.	Install the rear wheels. Refer to Removing/Installing Rear Wheels		FIGURE 8 Adjusting Wheelbase Width
	on page 66
