When using the number buttons on the remote control, make sure that they are ready for tuner operations.

Pressing FM/AM on the remote control makes the number buttons ready for tuner operations.

Check the AM tuner interval spacing (9 kHz or 10 kHz) for your area (see below).

Setting the AM Tuner Interval Spacing

Some countries space AM stations 9 kHz apart, and some countries use 10 kHz spacing.

When shipped, the built-in AM tuner is set to 9 kHz spacing.

To set the AM tuner to the 10 kHz spacing, be sure that the unit is turned off, but is plugged into a wall outlet. Hold

down > of the tuner control and then press .

To set it back to the 9 kHz spacing, be sure that the unit is turned off, but is plugged into a wall outlet.

Hold down < of the tuner control and then press .

Tuning in a Station

1 Press FM/AM.

The unit automatically turns on and tunes in the previously tuned station (either FM or AM).

Each time you press the button, the band alternates between FM and AM.

2 On the unit:

Press and hold + or – of the tuner control buttons.

On the remote control:

Press and hold % or Þ of the tuner control buttons.

The unit starts searching stations and stops when a station of sufficient signal strength is tuned in.

If a program is broadcast in stereo, the STEREO indicator also lights.

To stop during searching, press + / – (or% / Þ) of the

tuner control buttons again.

When you press + / – (or%/ Þ) briefly and repeatedly

The frequency changes step by step.

To change the FM reception mode

When an FM stereo broadcast is hard to receive or noisy, press FM MODE on the remote control so that “MONO” appears in the main display. Reception improves.

To restore the stereo effect, press FM MODE again so that “AUTO” appears in the main display.

In this stereo mode, you can hear stereo sounds when a program is broadcast in stereo.
