AMake connections.
Connect the camcorder to the DV IN/OUT connector on
the recorder’s front panel.
BSelect the HDD deck.
Slide TV/CABLE/SAT to the right, then press HDD.
CPrepare the HDD deck for dubbing.
Press VCR PR+/– to set the channel to “D-1”.
The on-screen display for DV dubbing appears.
Recording speed is automatically set to DV and “DV” appears
under the HDD capacity graph.
DPrepare the DV equipment for dubbing.
APress w e to move the arrow to , then press
OK to display the remote icon (facing to the right) for
the DV equipment.
BSearch for the point from where you want to start
dubbing by pressing 4, 5, or 3, then press 8.
If you select the camcorder’s sound mode (“SOUND1”,
“SOUND2”, or “MIX”), during playback of the camcorder,
press we
to move the arrow to , then press OK
repeatedly until the desired mode appears on the TV screen
(pg. 81). Note that this selection is not available when the
source programme is recorded in 16BIT mode.
EStart dubbing.
Press w e to move the arrow to , then press
OK.
Playback on the external DV equipment and recording on the
HDD deck should start simultaneously.
When “NO SIGNAL HDD ENTERS RECORD STANDBY
MODE” or “CAN NOT RECORD CAN NOT RECOGNIZE
CONNECTED DEVICE” appears, the HDD deck stops
recording.
Original DV information other than just time code is also
recorded to the HDD along with the programme.
FEnd dubbing.
Press w e to move the arrow to , then press
OK.

To skip unwanted part of the source picture

APress OK to stop both equipment, then press w to move the
arrow to .
BSearch for the point where you want to restart dubbing by
pressing 4, 5, or 3, then press 8.
CPress e to move the arrow to , then press OK to
restart dubbing.
NOTES:
It is recommended that you locate the dubbing start point a
little before the actual start point on the external DV
equipment in step D since the beginning of the programme (a
few frames) won’t be recorded. And you may encounter
unwanted pictures inserted at the beginning of the recorded
programme. In such cases, edit the recorded programme to
delete the unwanted part by using divide and delete features.

When you dub a programme on the recorder to the connected
DV equipment, refer to the operating instructions supplied
with the DV equipment.
When the playback picture is distorted or noise appears on the
picture, attach a separately sold ferrite core to the DV cable.
When you dub a programme that was recorded in a recording
speed other than “DV” (“SP”, “LP”, “EP”, or “SEP”) on the
HDD deck into a connected DV equipment, the dubbed
programme will be recorded in 16BIT mode. In such a case,
note that you cannot replace the sound of the dubbed
programme with Audio dubbing feature.

When you dab form DV equipment other than a

camcorder

APerform step A to C.
BSearch for the point from where you want to start
dubbing, then stop on the DV equipment.
If you pause the DV equipment in this step, a few second’s
still picture will be recorded at the beginning of the
recorded programme.
CSet the input mode to “DV INPUT” on the DV equipment.
If you select an input mode other than “DV INPUT”,
unwanted pictures may be recorded at the beginning of the
recorded programme.
DPerform step E to F.
