8 PICTURE CONTROL	This feature helps you to adjust the playback picture quality according to your
NORM	preference. Normally select “NORM”.
EDIT	NORM:	Picture quality is adjusted automatically.
SOFT	EDIT:	Minimizes picture degradation during editing (recording and
SHARP
		playback).
	SOFT:	Reduces image coarseness when viewing overplayed tapes
		containing a lot of noise.
	SHARP	Clearer, sharper-edged picture when viewing images with lots of flat,
		same-colored surfaces such as cartoons.
	NOTES:
	● When you select “EDIT”, “SOFT” or “SHARP”, the selected mode will not change until you
	select another mode.
	● When you select “EDIT” to dub tapes, be sure to select “NORM” after you finish dubbing
	the tapes.
8 3DNR	The 3DNR picture system applies the noise reduction to reduce small noise,
ON	enabling clear picture with less roughness.
ON (PLAY)	ON:	The 3DNR picture system is activated to reduce noise appearing on
OFF		playback picture of a VHS cassette, on-air picture of the tuner, and
		picture from the external source connected to the unit (through the
		AUDIO/VIDEO input (F-1) connector). However, this feature does
		not affect recording signals. This mode is preferable when small noise
		and roughness are obvious on on-air picture of the channel to be
		recorded.
	ON (PLAY): The 3DNR picture system is activated only for playback picture of
		a VHS cassette. On-air picture of the channel to be recorded and
		picture from the external source connected to the unit (through the
		AUDIO/VIDEO input (F-1) connector) will not be affected.
	OFF:	The 3DNR picture system is not activated for playback picture of a
		VHS cassette.
	NOTES:
	● Signals to be recorded onto a tape are not affected even when “3DNR” is set to “ON” or
	“ON (PLAY)”.
	● Normally it is recommended to keep “3DNR” set to “ON (PLAY)”.
	● Depending on the type of tape being used, picture quality may be better with “3DNR” set
	to “OFF”.
	● If you use the VCR as the source player for editing, be sure to set “3DNR” to “OFF” before
	starting.
8 SUPERIMPOSE	When this function is set to “ON”, various operational indicators appear on the TV
ON	screen. Messages appear in the selected language. ( pg. 20)
OFF	NOTES:
	● When you use this unit as the source player for editing, be sure to set “SUPERIMPOSE” to
	“OFF” before starting.
	● During playback, the operation mode indicators may be disturbed depending on the type of
	tape being used.
