Para el cosido general se utilizan agujas del tama_o 11 o 14.

Los hilos y agujas delgados deber_n utilizarse para coser tejidos ligeros evitando asi que 6stos se puedan echar a perder. Cosa tejidos gruesos con una aguja Io suficientemente gruesa como para que pueda penetrar el tejido sin que el hilo de la aguja se deshilache.

En la caja de agujas hay una aguja de cada tamaSo 11, 14, 16, 18, y una de tal6n azul del tamaSo 11. Cuando cosa tejidos de punto y sint6ticos, emplee la aguja de tal6n azul para evitar los fallos de puntada.

Para ciertos tipos de tejidos deber_n utilizarse agujas especiales. Para que la aguja pueda penetrar de forma efectiva en los tejidos duros tales como tela vaquera y Iona deber_ emplearse una aguja para tela vaquera con una punta muy afilada. Para costuras a la vista deber_ utilizarse una aguja especial con un ojo grande por el que pueda pasar un hilo grueso resistente. Las agujas para cuero perforan pequeSos agujeros en el cuero y los expanden permitiendo asi que el hilo pase a trav6s del agujero.

Inspeccione las agujas con frecuencia para comprobar que no est6n embotadas o despuntadas. Las agujas daSadas suelen causar enganches y carreras irreparables en tejidos de punto, sedas finas y imitaci6n de seda.

Adquiera siempre hilo de buena calidad. Deber_ ser fuerte, suave y de grosor uniforme.
