Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it is permissible to
be connected to the facilit ies of the local tele communications co mpany. The
equipment must also be installed using an acceptable method of connection. In
some cases, the inside wiring of a building or home associated with a single
line of service may be e xtended by means of a certified connec tor assembly
(telephone extension cord).
The customer should be aware that compliance with the above conditions may
not prevent degradation of service in some situations.
Repairs to certified equipment should be made by an authorized Canadian
maintenance facility desig nated by the suppl ier. Any repairs or alterati ons
made by the user to this equ ipment, or equipme nt malfunctions, may g ive the
telecommunications com pany cause to reques t the user to disco nnect the
equipment.
Users should ensure for their own protection that the electrical ground
connections of the power ut ility, telephone lines, and internal metallic water
pipe system, if present, are connected togeth er. This precaution may b e
particularly important in r ural areas.
WARNING! Users should not attempt to make such connections
themselves, but should contact the appropriate
electric inspection aut hority, or electricia n, as
appropriate.
Notice: The LOAD NUMBER (LN) assigned to e ach terminal devic e denotes the
percentage of the total load to be connected to a telephone loop which is used
by the device to prevent ov erloading. The term ination on a loop may c onsist of
any combination of devices s ubject only to the re quirement that the sum of the
LOAD NUMBERS of all of the devices does not exceed 100.
