Attention:
•Beforeyoustartinstallingacard,touchametaltableoragr oundedmetalobject.Thisactionreducesany
staticelectricityfromyourbody .Thestaticelectricitycoulddamagethecard.
•DonotinsertanExpressCar dwhilethecomputerisinsleepmodeorhibernationmode.Otherwise,the
computermightnotrespondwhenyoutrytoresumeusingit.
Toinstallacard,dothefollowing:
1.Locatetheappropriatetypeofslotforyourcard.See“Locatingcomputercontrols,connectors,
andindicators”onpage1.
2.Mak esurethatthecardiscorrectlyoriented:
•ForExpressCard:Thenotchededgeofthecardisfacingupwardandpointingtowardtothecar dslot.
•Forashmediacard:Themetalcontactsarefacingdownandpointingtowardthecardslot.
•Forsmartcard:Themetalcontactsarefacingupwardandpointingtowar dthecardslot.
3.P ressthecardrmlyintothecardslot.
Iftheplug-and-playfeatureisnotenabledfortheinstalledExpressCardmodule,ashmediacard,or
smartcard,dothefollowingtoenablethefeature:
1.OpenControlPanel.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconrmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconrmation.
4.F romtheActionmenu,selectAddlegacyhardware.TheAddHardwareWizardstarts.
5.F ollowtheinstructionsonthescreen.
RemovinganExpressCardmodule,aashmediacard,orasmartcard
Attention:Beforeremovingacard,stopthecardrst.Otherwise,dataonthecardmightbecorruptedorlost.
Toremoveacard,dothefollowing:
1.Clickthetriangularicononthetaskbartoshowhiddenicons.Then,right-clicktheSafelyRemove
HardwareandEjectMediaicon.
2.Selecttheitemyouwanttoremovetostopthecard.
3.P ressthecardtoejectitfromyourcomputer .
4.Removethecardandstoreitsafelyforfutureuse.
Note:IfyoudonotremovethecardfromyourcomputerafteryouejectthecardfromtheWindowsoperating
system,thecardcannolongerbeaccessed.Toaccessthecard,youmustremoveitrst,theninsertitagain.
