19 It may take a few minutes for your computer to recognize the new settings. T o check the status of your network:
aRightclick the Wireless Network Co nnections icon.
bSelect View Available Wireless Networks.
If the network is listed but the computer is not connected, then select the ad ho c network, and then click
Connect.
If the network does not appear, wait a moment, and then click Refresh network list.
20 Insert the installation software CD, and then follow the directions for wireless i nstallation.
Note: Do not connect the installation or network cables until instructed to do so by the setup software .
21 When the available networks are displayed, provide the network name an d the security information you created.
The installer will configure the printer for use with your computer.
22 Store a copy of your network name and security information in a safe p lace for future reference.
For Macintosh users
1Access the Airpor t settings:
In Mac OS X versio n 10.5 or later
From the Apple menu, navigate to:
System Preferences > Network > AirPort
In Mac OS X versio n 10.4 or earlier
From the Finder, navigate to:
Applications > Internet Connect > AirPort
2From the Network Name or Network menu, click Crea te Network.
3Create a name for the ad hoc network, and then click OK.
Note: Store the network name and password in a safe place for future reference.
Adding a printer to an existing ad hoc wireless network
Note: The printer can communicate on only one wireless network at a time. Configuring the printer for an ad hoc
wireless network will remove it from any other wireless network, either ad hoc or infrastructure, for whic h it is
configured.
For Windows users
1Click or Start.
2Click All Programs or Programs, and then select the printer program folder from the list.
3Navigate to:
Printer Home > select your printer > Settings tab > Wireless setup utility
4Follow the instructions on the computer screen.
Note: Windows Vista computers may need to be reconnected to the a d hoc network after restarting.
