Parking Brake Button
Tosetthe parkingbrake,fully
depressthebrakepedaland
pushtheparkingbrakebutton in.
Holdthebutton inwhiletaking
yourfootoff the brakepedal.Both
theparkingbuttonandthe brake
pedalwillthen staydepressed.
Toreleasetheparkingbrake,
depressthebrakepedalslightly.
Theparkingbrakebuttonwill then
returntoits originalposition.
NOTE:Theparkingbrakemust beset if theoperator
leavestheseatwith theengine runningorthe enginewill
automaticallyshutoff.
IMPORTANT:Alwaysset theparkingbrakewhenleaving
thetractorunattended.
Cruise Control Button
Thecruisecontrolbutton is
locatedonthe tractordash
paneltothe left of theignition
switch.Pushthecruisecontrol
buttonwhiletravelingforwardata
desiredspeed.Whileholdingthe
buttonin, releasepressurefrom
thedrivepedal. Thiswill engage
thecruisecontroland allowthe
tractortoremainat thatspeed
withoutapplyingpressuretothe
drivepedal.Depressthebrake
pedalorthe drivepedalto deactivatecruisecontrol.

themanualfor detailedinstructionsregardingthecruise
controlfeature.
NOTE:CruisecontrolcanNOTbe engagedatthe
tractor'sfastestgroundspeed.Ifthe operatorshould
attempttodo so,the tractor will automaticallydecelerate
tothe fastestoptimalmowinggroundspeed.
Shift Lever
Theshiftlever islocatedonthe
leftside ofthe fenderand has
threepositions,FORWARD,
NEUTRALand REVERSE.The
brakepedalmustbe depressed
andthe tractormustnotbe in
motionwhenthemovingshift
lever.
IMPORTANT:Neverforce the
shiftlever.Doingso mayresultin
seriousdamagetothe tractor's
transmission.

Safety Interlock Switches
Thistractorisequippedwith a safetyinterlocksystem
forthe protectionofthe operator.Ifthe interlocksystem
shouldevermalfunction,donotoperatethetractor.
ContactanauthorizedMTDservicedealer.
• Thesafetyinterlocksystempreventstheengine
fromcrankingorstarting unlesstheparkingbrake
isengaged,andthe PTO(BladeEngage)knob(or
lever)isin the disengaged(OFF)position.
• Theenginewill automaticallyshutoff if the operator
leavestheseatbeforeengagingtheparkingbrake.
Models with Manual PTO (Blade Engage)
• Theenginewill automaticallyshutoff if the operator
leavesthetractor'sseatwiththe PTO(Blade Engage)
leverinthe engaged(ON)position, regardlessof
whethertheparkingbrakeis engaged.
• Withthe ignitionkey intheNORMALMOWING
position,theenginewillautomaticallyshutoff if the
PTO(BladeEngage)leveris movedintotheengaged
(ON)positionwiththe shiftleverin Reverse.
Models with Electric PTO (Blade Engage)
• TheelectricPTO (BladeEngage)clutchwillautomati-
callyshutoff ifthe operatorleavesthetractor'sseat
withthe PTO(BladeEngage)knobinthe engaged
(ON)position,regardlessofwhethertheparking
brakeisengaged.
• Withthe ignitionkeyinthe NORMALMOWING
position,theelectricPTO(BladeEngage)clutchwill
automaticallyshutoffif thePTO (BladeEngage)knob
ismovedintothe engaged(ON) positionwiththe shift
leverinReverse.
