Front To Rear
Thefrontof thecuttingdeck issupportedbyastabilizer
barthatcan adjustedtolevelthe deckfrom frontto rear.
Thefrontof thedeckshould bebetween1/4-inchand
3/8-inchlowerthanthe rearof thedeck.Adjustifneces-
saryas follows:
1. Withthe tractorparkedon a firm,levelsurface,place
thedeck liftleverinthetop notch(highestposition)
androtatethe bladenearestthedischargechuteso
thatitis paraIMwiththetractor.
2. Measurethedistancefromthe frontof the bladetipto
thegroundand therearofthe bladetipto theground.
Thefirstmeasurementtakenshouldbebetween
1/4"and 3/8"less than thesecondmeasurement.
Determinetheapproximatedistance necessaryfor
properadjustmentandproceed,ifnecessary,tothe
nextstep.
3. Fromthefront ofthetractor,loosenthehexlocknut
oneachend of thedeck hangerrod,and turnaway
fromthe innerhex nuts.SeeFigure14.
4. Tightentheinnerhexnutsfrontagainstthe front
hangerbrackettoraisethe frontof thedeck; loosen
thehexnuts tolowerthe frontofthedeck.
NOTE:Modelswitha 42-inchdeckhave onlyONEjam
nut,washer,andlock nut.

Leveling the Deck
NOTE:Checkthetractor'stire pressurebeforeperform-

5. Retightenthetwo locknutsagainstthe inner hexnuts
whenproperadjustmentisachieved.
Side to Side
Ifthe cuttingdeckappearsto be mowingunevenly,aside
tosideadjustmentcan beperformed.Adjustif necessary
asfollows:
1. Withthe tractorparkedon a firm,levelsurface,place
thedeck lift leverinthe topnotch(highestposition)
androtateboth bladessothattheyare perpendicular
withthe tractor.
2. Measurethedistancefromthe outsideoftheleft blade
tipto thegroundandthe distancefromtheoutsided
therightblade tipto theground.Bothmeasurements
takenshouldbeequal. Ifthey'renot,proceedto the
nextstep.
3. Loosen,butdo NOT remove,thehexcap screwon
theleft deckhangerbracket.SeeFigure15.
4. Balancethedeckby usingawrenchtoturn the
adjustmentgear (foundimmediatelybehindthehex
capscrewjust loosened)clockwise/uporcounter-
clockwise/down.Thedeckis properlybalancedwhen
bothbladetip measurementstakenearlierareequal.
5. Retightenthehex capscrewon theleft deck hanger
bracketwhenproperadjustmentisachieved.
