6. Pullthe decksupportpinoutwardto releasethe deck
fromthedeck lift arm.
7. Rotatethepin slightlytowardthe rearof the tractor
andreleasethepin intothehole provided.
8. Repeattheabovestepson thetractor'srightside.
9. Movethe decklift leverintothetop notchonthe right
fendertoraise deckliftarms upand outof theway.
10.Gentlyslidethecuttingdecktowardthe frontof the
tractorallowingthehookson thedeck to release
themselvesfromthedeckstabilizerrod.
11.Gentlyslidethecuttingdeck(from therightside)out
fromunderneaththetractor.
Tires

IMPORTANT:Referto the tire sidewallfor exacttire

deckto mowunevenly.
Battery
Thebatteryis sealedand is maintenance-free.Acid
levelscannotbechecked.
• Alwayskeepthebatterycablesand terminalsclean
andfreeof corrosivebuild-up.
Aftercleaningthebatteryand terminals,applya light
coatof petroleumjellyor greaseto bothterminals.
Alwayskeeptherubberboot positionedoverthe
positiveterminaltopreventshorting.
IMPORTANT:Ifremovingthebattery for anyreason,
disconnecttheNEGATIVE(Black)wirefromit's terminal
first,followedbythe POSITIVE(Red) wire.When
re-installingthebattery,alwaysconnectthePOSiTiVE
(Red)wire itsterminalfirst, followedbythe NEGATIVE
(Black)wire.Becertain thatthewiresare connectedto
thecorrectterminals;reversingthemcouldchangethe
polarityandresultin damagetoyourengine'salternat-
ingsystem.
Charging
Ifthe tractorhas not beenput into usefor an extended
periodoftime,charge thebatterywithan automotive-type
12-voltchargerfora minimumofone hour at six amps.

Jump Starting
WARNING:When removing or
installingthe battery, follow
these instructionsto prevent the
screwdriver from shorting against
the frame.
IMPORTANT:Neverjumpyourtractor'sdeadbatterywith
thebatteryof a runningvehicle.
1. Connectendofone jumpercabletothe positive
terminalofthegood battery,thentheotherend tothe
positiveterminalofthe deadbattery.
2. Connecttheotherjumpercable tothenegative
terminalofthegood battery,thento the frame of the
unit with the dead battery.
_ WARNING"Failure to use this
procedure could cause sparking,
and the gas in either battery could
explode.
Cleaning
Cleanthebatteryby removingitfromthe tractorand
washingwithabaking sodaandwater solution.If neces-
sary,scrapethebatteryterminalswitha wirebrush to
removedeposits.Coatterminalsandexposedwiringwith
greaseorpetroleumjellyto preventcorrosion.
Battery Failures
Somecommoncausesforbatteryfailureare:
• incorrectinitialactivation • undercharging
• overcharging • corrodedconnections
• freezing
Thesefailures are NOTcovered byyour tractor's
warranty.
