DUsing the Built-in Flash

Before taking a photograph with the flash in P, S, A, M, or 0modes, press the Mbutton to raise z the flash and wait for the Mindicator to be displayed in the viewfinder (0 50). Shooting will be interrupted if the flash is raised while a remote control mode is in effect or after the self- timer has started. If the flash is required, the camera will only respond to the ML-L3 shutter- release button once the flash has charged. In auto or scene modes in which the flash pops up automatically, the flash will begin charging when a remote control mode is selected; once the flash is charged, it will automatically pop up and fire when required. Note that only one

photograph will be taken when the flash fires, regardless of the number of exposures selected for Custom Setting c3 (Self-timer; 0 160).

In flash modes that support red-eye reduction, the red-eye reduction lamp will light for about one second before the shutter is released in quick-response remote mode. In delayed remote mode, the self-timer lamp will light for two seconds, followed by the red-eye reduction lamp which light for one second before the shutter is released.
