Step 4 Focus and Shoot

1Press the shutter-release button halfway (A29).

The Basics of Shooting and

When a face is detected:

The camera focuses on the face framed by the yellow double border (focus area). When the subject is in focus, the double border turns green.

When no faces are detected:

The camera focuses on the subject in the center of the frame. When the camera has focused, the focus area turns green.

Playback

When you are using digital zoom, the camera focuses on the subject in the center of the

frame and the focus area is not displayed. When the camera has focused, the focus indicator (A 8) lights in green.

While the shutter-release button is pressed halfway, the focus area or focus indicator may flash in red. This indicates that the camera is unable to focus. Modify the composition and then press the shutter-release button halfway again.

2Press the shutter-release button the rest of the way down (A29).

The shutter is released and the image is saved.
