Using the 8-port TokenSpeed and TokenSpeed/MCP Switch Modules

Figure 2-1 shows a network with a server connected to the network, first through a shared-media hub and then through a TokenSpeed module in a Centillion 50 Token Ring Workgroup Switch.

Segmenting a Ring

You can segment rings and connect the ring segments to the TokenSpeed module using either Ring In/Ring Out (RI/RO) ports or lobe ports on the token ring hubs.

Note: If you connect a token ring hub to a switch using only the RI or RO port, you have no backup path between the switch and the hub.
