Selecting print quality

If you are not using Windows, you may need to set the print mode for MS-DOS applications.

Your unit incorporates several print modes that allow you to select print quality, density of ink, and paper type. The control panel enables you to select three of these print modes: HQ, FINE, and HS.

If you are using Windows, the printer driver automatically adjusts the print mode.

To select the print mode, follow the steps below.

1

Make sure the printer mode is turned on and the unit

(PRINT\MODE)

is off-line.

2

Press (PRINT\MODE) repeatedly until the desired

print mode is displayed.

PRINT MODE=HQ

Use this mode for most of your printing needs. The unit automatically prints in HQ mode unless you change the mode with the PRINT MODE button or your software.

PRINT MODE=FINE

Use this mode for printing on ink jet transparencies or printing halftone images that produce grayscale or intermediate colors.

PRINT MODE=HS

Use this mode when you are printing draft documents. Your document will print faster but the print density will be lower. This mode uses half the amount of ink as the HQ mode.
