Changing settings for BJ emulation

The following list shows the printer settings you can customize and explains each one.

TEXT SCALE SET:

You can select the number of lines (62 or 66 lines) that can fit on a piece of

paper. If the software application you are using assumes that each piece of

paper equals 66 lines, select ENABLE. For other applications, select

DISABLE.

PAGE LENGTH:

You can select a page length of either 11w (letter-size) or 12w (A4-size).

CHARACTER SETTING:

You can choose from Character Set 1 and Character Set 2. The setting you

choose depends on the characters you want to print. For details, see page

44.

CODE PAGE SET:

You can select the code page from 437, 850, 860, 863 and 865. Each code

page has two different character sets. The setting you choose depends on

the type of characters you want to print and the operating system of your

computer. For details, see page 44.

AUTO CR:

You can select whether or not you want the unit to perform a carriage return

after each line feed.

AGM MODE SET:

You can set the unit to accept high-resolution, 24-dot, all-points-addressable

(APA) graphics commands, similar to those used with conventional 24-pin

printers. Select ENABLE for printing documents containing graphics. Select

DISABLE for text-only documents.

DOWNLOAD BUFFER SIZE:

Select 40KB if you use downloadable fonts (i.e., fonts not resident in the unit,

but fonts that you download from your computer). Select 0KB if you don’t use

downloadable fonts. This will leave the entire 64KB of space available for

data.

AUTO EMULATION SWITCH:

When Enable is selected, the unit can switch to the LQ mode when Epson

LQ mode is detected.

SMOOTHING:

When Enable is selected, the unit can refine your printout at 720 (horizontal)

by 360 (vertical) dots per inch by smoothing jagged edges. The smoothing

mode is used with the Black Print Cartridge only.
