Notes on Speaker size
LARGE
Speakers that can sufficiently reproduce enough bass range.
SMALL
Speakers that do not satisfy the requirements for LARGE speakers. Enough bass range can be produced, if you install the subwoofer.
You can perform steps instructed in “Setting speakers and their sizes” (➔ page 37) to change speaker sizes set automatically.
Notes on Lowpass filter
•When the speaker size is “SMALL ”, the unit cannot sufficiently reproduce the bass range.
•You can set the lowpass filter frequency according to the playback frequency range and arrange the unit to output the missing bass range from the subwoofer.
Note for speaker detection and size setting
When you set the front speakers (“L ”, “R ”) as “LARGE ”
•The subwoofer also makes audio output in the bass range when you perform stereo playback of analog and PCM sources.
•The subwoofer sends out only the LFE (low frequency effect channel) signal contained in

When you set “LR ” to “SMALL”, “SUBW ” is set to “YES ”. When you set “SUBW ” to “NO ”, “LR ” is set to “LARGE ”.
•“SB ” does not appear when “S ” is set to “NONE ”.
•The “SB ” size becomes the “S ” size because the unit does not offer “SB ” size setting.
•When you change the number of connected speakers, settings made with the setup microphone are cancelled (➔ pages 24 and 25).

Notes on “SPEAKERS B”
•Playback is in
•If a surround source is played back when only SPEAKERS B is selected, “2CH MIX” is displayed on the display.
•Selected speakers output sounds assigned to front 2 channels when you make ANALOG 8CH connections.
•If you select SPEAKERS B only, the following are set automatically irrespective of settings selected in “Setting speakers and their sizes” (➔ page 37).
Speaker size: “LARGE ”
Subwoofer: “NO ” (Bass is output from the front speakers.)
•Settings made through the auto speaker setup (➔ pages 24 and 25) are cancelled.
Notes on “BI-AMP”
