Manual tuning

“TUNED” is displayed when a station is tuned.

“ST” is displayed when a stereo FM broadcast is tuned.

Tuning directly using the numbered buttons

1.Press [FM/AM] to activate the radio.

2.Press [FM/AM] to select “FM ” or “AM ”.

3.Press [DIRECT TUNING, DISC] to select Direct Tuning Mode.

4.Press the numbered buttons to enter the

frequency.

e.g. FM 107.9 MHz,

Press [DIRECT TUNING, DISC] → [1] → [0] → [7] → [9].

•If you do not press a button while the cursor is flashing, the display returns to the frequency being received.

•If the frequency has not been input correctly, “ERROR ” will be displayed.

Using the unit

1.Turn [INPUT SELECTOR] to select “FM ” or “AM ”.

2.Press [TUNE 2 or 1] to tune in a station.

Using the remote control

1.Press [FM/AM] to select “FM ” or “AM ”.

2.Press [t] [y] to tune in a station.

g Automatic tuning

Hold down [TUNE 2 or 1] on the unit or [t] [y] on the remote control until the frequency begins to scroll.

•Tuning stops when a station is found.

•Tuning may stop if there is interference.

Note

•To cancel during auto tuning, press [TUNE 2 or 1] on the unit or [t] [y] on the remote control.

Reducing excessive noise

During FM stereo reception

You can improve FM reception by switching reception to monaural.

1.To enter the SETUP (➔ page 36)

2.Press [e][r] to select “TUNER ”, and press [OK] to confirm.

3.Press [e][r] to select “FM MODE ”, and press [OK] to confirm.

4.Press [e][r] to select “MONO ”, and press [OK] to confirm.

•When this is set, “MONO” appears on the display.

•Select “AUTO ” to cancel.

When there is a lot of noise interference with an AM broadcast,

 

try switching to this mode.

If the correct FM frequency cannot be tuned in, change the

 

frequency step to suit your area.

2.Press [e][r] to select “TUNER ”, and press [OK] to confirm.

3.Press [e][r] to select “FM STEP ”, and press [OK] to confirm.

4.Press [e][r] to select “100 ” or “200 ”,

and press [OK] to confirm.

Factory setting: 200kHz

•When the frequency step is changed, the previously memorized preset stations are initialised to the settings made at the time of shipment.
