Playing a cassette

aPuta cassette in the cassetteslot.
bPressthe PLAYGbutton.
cTostop, press the STOPhbutton.
dToeject the cassette, press the STOP/EJECT ?button
onthe machine.
DSomehired cassettes may have a poor picture or poor
soundquality. This is not a fault in your machine. Please
readthe section ’Selecting the picture setting (SMART
PICTURE)’,or ’Picture interference’ in this chapter.
DSomefunctions switch off automatically after a while (for
example,pause, still picture, picture search). This helps
toprotect the cassette and avoids wasting power.

Playing NTSC casettes

Withthis machine you can play cassettes that have been
recordedon another video recorder in the NTSC standard.
NTSCis the TV system used in, for example, America and
Japan.PAL is the TV system used in, for example, Europe. But
thisonly works for PAL-television sets which are suitable for a
picturefrequency of 60 Hz.
Whenyou play an NTSC cassette, ’60HZ’ will appear on the
videorecorder display.
DSomespecial features (for example, still picture) are not
possiblewhile you are playing an NTSC cassette.

Tape position indicator

aPressthe COUNTER buttonwhile the cassette is playing.
bSelectone of the following options.
’TIMEUSED’ to show the time used on the tape.
’TIMELEFT’ to show the time left on the tape.
’COUNTER’to show the present position on the tape.
DBypressing the OK button,you can show the present
tapeposition on the TV screen.

Searching for a tape position with the

picture (picture search)

aWhilea cassette is playing, press the H(rewind)or
I(wind)button.
bTostop at a certain picture, press the PLAYGbutton.
DDuringpicture search, the picture quality may not be so
goodand there will be no sound.

JOG and SHUTTLE

Youwill find a large knob oonthe video recorder and the
remotecontrol.
aSwitchthe function on by pressing the STILLRbutton.
Youwill see a still picture.
bUsethe inner JOG disc on the remote control to select
thenext or previous still picture.
cByturning the inner disc continuously to the right or to
theleft you can switch to slow motion, forwards or
backwards.
dTheouter SHUTTLE ring of the knob allows you to select
differenttape speeds for the forward and reversepicture
search.

Searching for a tape position without the

picture (wind and rewind)

aStopthe tape with the STOPhbutton.
bPressthe H(rewind)or I(wind)button or, on the
videorecorder, turn the outer ring of the knob oto
theleft or to the right.
cTostop at a certain position, press the STOPhbutton.
