Chapter 7: Auto-Answer and Polling
Chapter 7: Polling Mode & Auto Answer Mode
Polling mode and Auto Answer mode allow your PC to communi-
cate automatically with multiple CPP Monitor 2000s. Polling is the
process of calling units to retrieve the Data Log or Event Log (see
“Datalogging,” “Event Logger,” and “Polling” sections in Chapter
Four). Auto Answer mode lets your PC receive alarm calls when
the destination type is set to modem. In order to receive alarm calls
or have the software perform polling you must have the program
running and have one or both modes enabled. When the software
receives an alarm message it will display it on your screen immedi-
ately as well as update the Event Log for that particular unit. When
using these features, your computer and modem must remain ON
continuously.

Enabling Auto Answer Mode

You can enable Auto Answer mode by selecting Functions>Auto
Answer from the menu bar or by clicking on the Answer Mode icon
in the Toolbar.
Note that Auto Answer mode can only be enabled if you are not
connected with a unit. Once youre connected, it becomes grayed
out.

Enabling Polling Mode

To enable Polling mode, click on the Polling Mode icon on the
Toolbar or select Polling>Enable from the menu bar. This is the
global polling-enable control. In addition, each unit must have
Polling enabled (see Chapter Four for specific Polling Settings).
