05Measuring the SD memory card’s transfer speed

The speed at which data on the SD memory card is read into this unit can be measured.

Caution

This SD memory card transfer speed is only a rough measurement, and does not guarantee a playback bit rate.

To achieve stable playback operation, use SD memory cards with a sufficiently high transfer speed with respect to the playback bit rate.

1Switch to the transfer speed measurement mode. Press the SETUP button on the main unit’s front panel or on the remote control for over one second.

2Start the measurement.

Press the ENTER button. The following appears on the main unit’s display:

When a display is connected to the VIDEO OUT terminal, the same contents can be checked on the display’s screen.

If measurement is not possible, an error message appears on the display. Check the SD memory card. Ex.: When write-protected

WRITE PROTECT or FREE SPACE <100MB

Several minutes are required to measure the transfer speed.

Use SD memory cards in FAT16, FAT32 or NTFS format. The measurement is possible even if files are stored on the SD memory card.

Check the results of the measurement against Guaranteed transfer speed under Cautions on using SD memory cards on page 21.
