Windows XP Driver Installation

(QL2300.SYS)

7.1

Introduction

This section provides instructions for installing the Windows XP driver under the following operating system conditions:

■Initial installation of Windows XP with the QLA23xx HBA as the boot device

■Initial installation of Windows XP with the QLA23xx HBA as an add-on

■Installation of the Windows XP driver in an already installed Windows XP operating system

■Installing an updated Windows XP driver in an already installed Windows XP operating system that has an older version of the driver

7.2

Creating the Driver Disk

Follow these steps to create driver disk containing the files needed to install the Windows XP driver:

1.Locate the driver you want on the QLogic web site (http://www.qlogic.com) and click Link to driver.

2.If prompted What would you like to do with this file?, choose Save this program to disk. Specify a temporary location on the hard drive and download the driver.

3.Insert a blank disk in drive A.

4.Run the self-extracting file you just downloaded, specifying A:\ for Unzip To Folder.

Installing the Windows XP Driver

If you have not installed Windows XP, follow the instructions in section 7.3.1 if the QLA23xx HBA is the boot device; follow the instructions in section 7.3.2 if the QLA23xx HBA is not the boot device (add-on).

If Windows XP is installed, follow the instructions in section 7.3.3 if this is the first time you are installing the Windows XP driver; follow the instructions in section 7.3.4 to update an older version of the Windows XP driver.
