Installing the Solaris SPARC Driver from the QLogic Web Site

Perform the following steps to download the Solaris SPARC driver from the web to your hard disk, then install the driver on your system.

NOTE: To install the QLA2300 driver, you must have superuser privileges.

1.Log on to the system as a superuser.

2.Download the driver package from the QLogic Web site

(http://www.qlogic.com) to a directory on the Solaris machine’s hard disk.

3.At the command prompt, change the directory (cd) to the directory where the file was downloaded.

4.At the command prompt, type:

uncompress ./qla2300.Z

5.Step 4 produces a file in the same directory called qla2300.

6.At the command prompt in the directory where the file was uncompressed, type:

pkgadd -d ./qla2300

7. You are prompted to select a driver package. For example:

The following packages are available:

1 QLA2300-1 QLogic QLA2300 driver (sparc) Solaris 2.6, Rev=X.XX

2 QLA2300-2 QLogic QLA2300 driver (sparc) Solaris 2.7, Rev=X.XX

3 QLA2300-3 QLogic QLA2300 driver (sparc) Solaris 8-9, Rev=X.XX

Select package(s) you wish to process (or ’all’ to process all packages). (default: all) [?,??,q]: 3

NOTE: The revision number, X.XX, indicates the most recent version of the driver.

8.Type the number associated with the Solaris SPARC version on your system and press ENTER to continue.
