Marine VHF radio users in the US must comply with all applicable FCC rules and regulations, which are described in Section 6. This information was current at the time this handbook was printed.

FCC NOTICE

FCC Licensing
An FCC Ship Radio Station License, Call Sign, and Operator License are not required for most recreational vessels travelling in US waters. For specifics on FCC licensing requirements, see Section 6 of this handbook.
Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI)
The RAY215 includes equipment for Digital Selective Calling (DSC). A
