Viewfinder Playback and Playback Features

Playback Features

Stop-Action Pause

During playback, you can stop the action, and view one frame of the tape.

Press PAUSE/STILL.

Caution: Pause is designed for momentary interruptions and should not be used for an extended period of time. If the camcorder remains in the pause mode for more than five minutes, it will automatically move the tape away from the spinning heads to prevent excessive tape wear.

Press PAUSE/STILL again (or PLAY) to return to normal playback.

Visual Search

During playback, you can visually search the tape.

During playback, press F.FWD or REW to visually search the tape in forward or reverse.

To return to normal playback press the button again (or press PLAY).

Tracking

During playback, the CLOCK SELECT and SET buttons are also the tracking buttons. Tracking is used when you play a tape that was recorded on a different camcorder (or VCR).

Note: Only tapes recorded in SP (standard play) can be played.

When you play a tape not recorded on your camcorder, streaks may appear if the recorded tracks on the tape do not align precisely with the playback heads. To remove the streaks and align the heads with the tape tracks, press either one of the tracking buttons to move the streaks up or down and out of the picture.

Press and hold both tracking buttons to reset tracking to preset center. Tracking is automatically reset whenever a cassette is inserted.

The tracking buttons only affect tape playback. They have no effect during recording.
