PARAMETERS
Ensurethat your device is set up with these default serial port parameters.
Ensurethat the controlling host computer or ASCII terminal is set for 9600
baud,8 data bits, 1 start bit, 1 stop bit and no parity. These are the default serial
port parameters. The baud rate and handshake setti ngs can be changed.
Ensure that theE cho/No Echom ode iss et appropriately.Transmitted Data is
consideredan input, and Received Data is considered an output because these
signalsare named from the perspective of the Data Terminal Equipment
(D.T.E.)to which the D.C.E. will normally be connected. Transmitted Data is
thesignal which communicates commands from the host computer RS-232
port, orthe ASCII terminal, to the SuperView. Received Data is the signal that
returnss tatus, parameter values and, if the SuperView is being controlled by an
ASCIIterminal, echoes the commands.
Request to Send is a handshaking signal generated by the Data Terminal
Equipment.It is always asserted.
Clear toSend is asignalgenerated by theData C ommunications Equipment
inre sponse to the Data TerminalEquipment’s assertion of Request t o Send.It
indicatesthat the Data Communication Equipment has recognized the Request
toSend and is not busy (i.e. it is ready to receive data). Clear to Send is always
asserted.
Data Set Ready isa signal generated by the Data Communications
Equipment, normally to indicate it has power. It is used by the Data Terminal
Equipmentto verify that the cable is connected, that there is Data
CommunicationsEquipment on the other end of the cable and that the
equipmentis switched on. Data Set Ready is always asserted.
ReceivedLine Signal Detector (sometimes known as Data Carrier Detect)
isa signal generated by the Data Communications Equipment. Received Line
SignalDetector is always asserted.
