If you are using the camera for the first time, read this section.

To take a picture with the subject in the foreground
in focus against a background, half-press the
shutter release button to focus on the subject, and
then compose your shot.

Gently press the shutter
release button all the way.
The still image you have taken
appears momentarily on the LCD
monitor and is recorded to the
internal memory or SD memory
card.

The color of the frame in the cente r of the LCD monitor an d the auto focus/ flash lam p
indicate whether the subj ect is in or out of focus.
It may be impossible to bring the following subjects into focus.
Subjects lacking contrast (the sky, a white wall, the hood of a car, etc.)
Flat two-dimensional obje c ts with only horizontal lines and no significant
protrusions.
Quickly moving objects.
Things in poorly lit place s.
Areas with strong backlighti ng, or reflections.
Things that flicker, such as fluorescent lights.
When you want to shoot subject s like this, firs t foc us on an object the sa me di stanc e
as your subject and then shoot.
