5.2Installing the Driver in Windows 2000 For Use With the Zero Config Utility

Use the Windows 2000 Zero Config utility as the PC Card management tool if using the Wireless Networker LA-5030 PC Card without the Symbol Configuration Utility or if using a 3rd party software supplicant. The Symbol Configuration Utility does not function properly while 3rd party software supplicants are loaded on the system.

If a version of the Symbol Configuration Utility resides on the system, remove it from the system.

Select Start->Programs->Symbol Wireless Networker->Uninstall to remove the Configuration Utility and driver simultaneously.

The user is required to have Windows 2000 SP4 installed for full feature functionality.

To install the driver for use with Windows 2000 Zero Config:

1.Ensure the previously installed driver and Symbol Wireless Networker 802.11 a/g Configuration Utility has been removed (if necessary).

2.Download the driver and installation package from the Symbol Web site (http://www.symbol.com/services/downloads/wn_abg_drivers.html).

A File Download window displays prompting the user to either open the driver and software installer or save the installation package to the system.

3.Select Open to proceed with the installation.

A WinRAR self-extracting archive window displays.

To manually install the driver and software package select Save, define a destination location for the driver and software package and follow the prompts displayed by the installer.

4.Select Install from the WinRAR self-extracting archive window to automatically extract the driver and software package and launch the Symbol Wireless Networker Install Menu.
