Changing the main battery

To set an alarm:

1Click Start, then click Control Panel.

The Control Panel window appears.

2Click Performance and Maintenance.

3Click the Tos hib a Po wer Sav er icon.

4Choose the Power Save Modes tab, then under the

Running on Batteries section, click Details.

5Click the Alarm tab and set the alarm, as desired.

Changing the main battery

When your battery power is running low, you have two

options: connect the computer to an AC power source or

install a charged battery.

NOTE: If your battery discharges fully, your information will be

lost. Be sure to save your work often.

CAUTION: When handling a battery, be careful not to drop it or

short-circuit its terminals.

Removing the battery from the computer

1Save your work.

2Turn off the computer or place it in Hibernation mode

according to the instructions in “Going into Hibernation

mode more quickly” on page 110.

3Remove all cables connected to the computer.

4Close the display panel and turn the computer upside

down with the front of the computer facing you.

The AC adapter and power cable work correctly, but the battery will not charge. The battery appears not to power the computer for as long as it usually does. Keyboard problems The keyboard produces unexpected characters. Display problems The display is blank. The screen does not look right. The built-in screen flickers. The display mode is set to Simultaneous and the external display device does not work. Disk drive problems You are having trouble accessing a disk, or one or more files appear to be missing. You press the disc eject button, but the drive tray does not slide out. Some discs run correctly, but others do not. WinDVD problems: general issues WinDVD controls are disabled. Playback performance is poor. The Root or Title menu does not open. WinDVD performance decreases after making a system change. Slow playback performance. WinDVD problems: content issues WinDVD will not function properly with debug software installed.
