Fn + This hot key decreases the screen brightness.

Fn +

This hot key increases the screen brightness.

Fn + This hot key enables/disables the optional wireless devices in

your computer.

The wireless modes you can toggle between are:

❖Bluetooth enabled—This enables just the Bluetooth

module. (See “Using Bluetooth” on page 169 for

instructions on setting up Bluetooth.)

❖Wi-Fi enabled—This enables just the Wi-Fi

module.

❖Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled—This enables both

wireless modules.

❖Wireless antenna on/off switch

The computer is not accessing the hard disk or the external diskette drive. The AC adapter and power cable work correctly, but the battery will not charge. The battery appears not to power the computer for as long as it usually does. Keyboard problems The keyboard produces unexpected characters. Display problems The display is blank. The screen does not look right. The built-in screen flickers. The display mode is set to Simultaneous and the external display device does not work. Disk drive problems You are having trouble accessing a disk, or one or more files appear to be missing. Error-checking Your hard disk seems very slow. Your data files are damaged or corrupted. Some programs run correctly but others do not. A diskette will not go into the external diskette drive. The computer displays the Non-system disk or disk error DVD-ROM or DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive problems You cannot access a disc in the drive. You press the disc eject button, but the drive tray does not slide out. Some discs run correctly, but others do not. WinDVD problems: general issues WinDVD controls are disabled. Playback performance is poor. The Root or Title menu does not open. WinDVD performance decreases after making a system change. Slow playback performance. WinDVD problems: content issues WinDVD will not function properly with debug software installed. Modem problems The modem will not receive or transmit properly. The modem is on, set up properly and still will not transmit or receive data. Develop good computing habits Save your work frequently.
