Charging the battery

3Connect the power cable to a live electrical outlet.

The AC power and battery lights glow.

DANGER: Damaged power cables can cause fire or electric shock.

Never modify, forcibly bend, place heavy objects on top of, or

apply heat to the power cable.

If the power cable becomes damaged or the plug overheats, dis-

continue use. There is a risk of electric shock.

Never remove the power plug from the outlet with wet hands.

Doing so may cause an electric shock.

CAUTION: Using the wrong AC adapter could damage your

computer. Toshiba assumes no liability for any damage in such

cases.

Never pull directly on the power cable to unplug it. Hold the power

plug when removing the cable from the outlet.

Charging the battery

Before you can use the battery to power the computer, you

must charge it. Connect the computer to a live power outlet

using the AC adapter and power cable. The on/off light glows

green and the battery light glows amber to show that it is

charging.

Once the computer is connected to a power outlet, you can

charge the battery with the computer turned off or on. It takes

several hours to charge the battery when the computer is off.

It takes much longer to charge the battery when the computer

is on. If the computer is not consuming full power, the time

required to charge the battery is reduced.

The AC adapter and power cable work correctly, but the battery will not charge. The battery appears not to power the computer for as long as it usually does. Keyboard problems The keyboard produces unexpected characters. Display problems The display is blank. The screen does not look right. The built-in screen flickers. The display mode is set to Simultaneous and the external display device does not work. Disk drive problems You are having trouble accessing a disk, or one or more files appear to be missing. Error-checking Your hard disk seems very slow. Your data files are damaged or corrupted. Some programs run correctly but others do not. A diskette will not go into the external diskette drive. The computer displays the Non-system disk or disk error DVD-ROM or DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive problems You cannot access a disc in the drive. You press the disc eject button, but the drive tray does not slide out. Some discs run correctly, but others do not. WinDVD problems: general issues WinDVD controls are disabled. Playback performance is poor. The Root or Title menu does not open. WinDVD performance decreases after making a system change. Slow playback performance. WinDVD problems: content issues WinDVD will not function properly with debug software installed.
