Adjust P25 Level

This setting determines some system-specific parameters for digital channels. In most cases, setting this to Auto provides the best performance. However, you can also manually set the digital decode threshold. This setting affects all channels in the current system. See “Optimizing P25 Performance” on Page 52.

Auto — the scanner automatically adjusts the digital decode threshold to match the transmission you are hearing when it receives a strong signal and has a high decode rate.

Manual — lets you manually adjust the digital decode threshold. To manually adjust the P25 level, select Manual.

Default — sets the digital decode threshold to the default value. Use this setting to return to the value that usually provides adequate performance. This is handy as you have manually adjusted the value to a setting that prevents proper decoding.

Note: This setting has no effect on how these systems are received.

Editing Sites

MESL

Use this option to enter and edit site information for the current system. See “Programming Sites” on Page 76 for instructions for each site option. Note that you must program at least one site for each trunked system in order for your scanner to scan the system.

Editing Channel Groups

MECL

Use this option to enter and edit channel groups and channel information. See “Programming Channel Groups” for instructions for each channel group and channel option. Note that you must program at least one channel group and one channel for each conventional system in your scanner. You do not have to enter channel group information for trunked systems, but doing so makes it easier to follow specific talk groups.
