Asado de res con verduras

3–31/2libras de asado de res sal y pimienta al gusto 1 cebolla grande cortada en cuadrados o rebanada 6 zanahorias cortadas en trocitos de 1 pulgada

6 papas medianas, cortadas en cuadrados y en mitades

1/2 taza de agua

Tiempo de cocción: LO (baja) = 9 a 10 horas HI (alta) = 5 a 6 horas

1.Si lo desea, dore el asado en una sartén sobre una estufa o cocina a fuego mediano antes de colocarlo en la olla cerámica. Sazone a gusto. Coloque las verduras alrededor del asado. Agregue el agua.

2.Coloque la olla cerámica en la base calentadora, tápela y cocine en el ajuste de temperatura deseado según el tiempo indicado o hasta que la carne y las verduras estén blandas. (Para que la carne quede bien cocida, el termómetro debe indicar 170°F). Si lo desea, espese los jugos mezclando 2 cucharadas de maicena y

2 cucharadas de agua. Fije el control en HI (alta) y revuelva lentamente la mezcla hasta que quede espesa. Rinde 6 porciones. Si lo desea, fije la temperatura en LO (baja) para servir.

Sopa de minestrón

3 tazas de agua

2 latas de 10.5 onzas de caldo de pollo

1 cebolla mediana picada

3 zanahorias cortadas en cubos

1 calabacín mediano, cortado por la mitad y en rebanadas de 1/2 de pulgada 1 1/2 tazas de col picada

1 lata de 15 onzas de garbanzos, sin drenar

3 latas de 14.5 onzas de tomates enteros, sin drenar, cortados en trozos 5 rebanadas de tocino, cocido y desmenuzado, optativo

2 dientes de ajo picados

11/2 cucharaditas de aderezo italiano

1cucharadita de sal

1/2 cucharadita de pimienta

1/2 taza de macarrones pequeños con forma de codo u otros fideos, sin cocer

Tiempo de cocción: LO (baja) = 8 a 10 horas HI (alta) = 5 a 6 horas

1.Combine todos los ingredientes en la olla cerámica, excepto los macarrones; revuélvalos para mezclarlos bien. Coloque la olla cerámica en la base calentadora, tápela y cocine en el ajuste de temperatura deseado según el tiempo indicado o hasta que las verduras estén blandas.

2.Suba la temperatura al ajuste HI (alta) y agregue los macarrones; revuélvalos para mezclarlos bien. Tape la olla y cocine durante 30 minutos. Rinde 6 a 8 porciones. Si lo desea, fije la temperatura en LO (baja) para servir.
