Use this feature to select a color system that matches your TV. For details, see “Setting a TV type and display” on page 19.

Setting the TV display

Set the aspect ratio of this DVD receiver to match your TV. The format you select must be available on the disc. Otherwise, the TV display setting will not affect the picture during playback.

4:3 PAN SCAN

Select this if the aspect ratio of your TV is 4:3 and you want both sides of the picture to be trimmed or formatted to fit your TV screen.

4:3 LETTER BOX

Select this if the aspect ratio of your TV is 4:3. In this case, a wide picture with black bands on the upper and lower portions of the TV screen are displayed.

16:9

Select this if you have a widescreen TV.

Progressive function

This feature is only valid if you have connected this DVD receiver to a progressive scan TV through the component video jacks (see “Connecting a TV” on page 12).

ON

Select this to enable the progressive scan function.

OFF

Select this to disable the progressive scan function.

Notes

Ensure that your TV is equipped with progressive scan.

Connect using a component video cable.

If no picture is displayed, wait for 15 seconds for this DVD receiver to activate automatic recovery.

CONSUMERS SHOULD NOTE THAT NOT ALL HIGH DEFINITION TELEVISION SETS ARE FULLY COMPATIBLE WITH THIS PRODUCT AND MAY CAUSE ARTIFACTS TO BE DISPLAYED IN THE PICTURE. IN CASE OF 525 OR 625 PROGRESSIVE SCAN PICTURE PROBLEMS, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE USER SWITCH THE CONNECTION TO THE “STANDARD DEFINITION” OUTPUT. IF THERE ARE QUESTIONS REGARDING OUR VIDEO MONITOR COMPATIBILITY WITH THIS MODEL 525P AND 625P DVD PLAYER, PLEASE CONTACT OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER.

This DVD receiver is compatible with the complete line of YAMAHA products, including the projectors DPX-1300, DPX- 830 and the plasma monitor PDM-4220.
