Bridge Ethernet Setup
Bridging is used to forward packets of unsupported protocols whose destination is not on the local Ethernet to the WAN.
Basically, all
∙If it is set to None, nothing is done to IPX traffic.
∙If it is set to Client, all RIP and SAP (Service Advertising Protocol) periodical response packets will not trigger the call.
∙If it is set to Server, no RIP or SAP packets will trigger the call. In addition, during the time when the ISDN line is down, the Prestige will reply to the servers watchdog messages on behalf of remote clients. The period of time that the Prestige will do this is linked to the Ethernet Address Timeout parameter in each Remote Node (see Chapter 5). When a remote Ethernet address is aged out, there is no need to maintain its connection to the IPX server.
