Chain Dialing

Each fax number that you enter or program into your machine can be up to 40 digits long. If you need to dial a number with more digits, use the chain dial feature.

To create a chain dial number:

1Program the first 39 digits into a Speed Dial number.

2Press the Plus (+) key (One-Touch key #39).

3Program the rest of the number as if programming another speed Dial entry.

To dial the number:

1Select the first Speed Dial Number programmed.

2When prompted, enter the second Speed Dial number.

3Press the Start key to begin sending the fax.

Note: The remaining part of the number not programmed in the first Speed Dial number can also be input manually when prompted, using the numeric keypad (step 2).

Programming a Group Directory

If you often send a fax to many fixed locations, setting up these locations as a group will save time. You can create up to 20 different groups of telephone numbers, each group having

a maximum of 140 (5700), or 230 (5900) locations. Each group is listed by a group dial number, and can also be assigned a name for alphabetic search.

To program a Group:

1Press Menu/Exit to enter the Menu.

2Press ▼ to select Location Program, press Enter.

3The cursor will be at Speed Dial, Press ▼ to select Group, press Enter.

4Input a group dial number (from 1-20), press Enter.

5Enter the desired location by pressing either a One Touch key, or the Speed Dial Search key, press Enter. Continue until all desired locations are entered, press Start.

6Enter a Group ID, press Enter.

7Press Menu/Exit to return to standby mode.

To delete an Entry:

1Follow the above directions, but at Step 5, Select Locations(s), press Enter.

2Press ▼ or ▲ to select the entry you want to delete, press Clear or Enter. The entry information displays.

3Press Clear. The entry is now deleted from group.

4Press Menu/Exit to return to standby mode.
