Powering Off the Machine

Powering Off the Machine

Peripheral devices such as the HDD and memory are used by a variety of functions. Correct power-off proce- dures must be observed in order to avoid damaging these peripherals. Also, remember that powering off the machine may result in loss of any scan data that is awaiting transmis- sion.

This section explains procedures and precautions to be observed when turning off the machine's main pow- er.

Turning Off the Operation Switch

A Make sure that the exposure glass cover or ADF are closed.

B Press the Operation Switch and check that the power indicator goes off.

Note

Under the following conditions, pressing the Operation Switch causes the power indicator to flash instead of going out.

The exposure glass cover or ADF is open.

Communication is taking place between the machine and a connected device.

The HDD is operating.

Turning Off the Main Power

Preparation

Normally do not turn off the main power. If you turn off the main power, see the Important below in 7 advance.

Important

Do not turn off the main power switch if the power indicator is lit or flashing. Damage to the HDD or memory may result.

Unplug the machine before turn- ing off the main power switch. Damage to the HDD or memory may result.

Before turning off the main power switch or unplugging the machine, check the memory remaining is 100%. After about 1 hour passes af- ter the main power switch is turned off or the machine is un- plugged, undelivered documents
